Lori Fuller Slab Pottery
I was born in Ohio and grew up in Mentor. My favorite class was, of course, Art and my love for clay began in high school at Mentor High. I later graduated from Kent State University with a Master’s in art education and an emphasis in ceramics. After teaching for twenty-five years, I am now enjoying doing ceramics out of my home studio in Mesopotamia. My husband Bruce and I are inspired by the beauty of God’s creation as we explore mountains, rocks, and streams. The earthy, textured slab work I do is a reflection of my love of the natural textures of rocks, streambeds, and bark. I feel like it’s somewhat of a collaboration with nature as I stretch out the clay and it demonstrates its characteristics of cracking and stretching. I also love sharing the creative process with students!
