Lisa Alfidi Lockemer

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lisa now resides both in Chagrin Falls and Naples, Florida.  Always interested in both nature and art, she began painting flowers and landscapes decades ago.  Lisa attended Syracuse University in New York to continue her art studies.  She has also taken watercolor, oil and acrylic classes with various local instructors.  Lisa has been fortunate enough to have traveled throughout most of our beautiful country, as well as France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Switzerland, taking many beautiful photographs to use as inspiration in her paintings. Lisa is married and has two treasured adult children, whom she is very proud of.  Lisa is so very grateful that her paintings are received with open smiles and positive comments!

Artist Statement

I have always loved how the shapes and colors of Mother Nature’s personality are deliciously teased together!

I have been blessed with eyes that see the glorious designs and vivacious colors in the World, and want to paint, paint, paint!  Living in the South and along the seashore allows a sparkling palette of opportunity to paint natural landscape compositions.  I try to transfer my love of nature, coastal life, and flowers into art via the use of the “impasto” style of painting. I work with oils because the fluidity of the medium is exotic enough to let me almost musically express my emotions into a medley of both visual and physical interpretations.  I lay paint down with palette knives in some areas, and brushes in other areas of the canvas, then blend and apply more color. Finally, I work the palette knives to stroke and draw the heavy paint into a visual flow of movement. This particular style provides texture, which prompts the paint and color to prance right out of the canvas!
